We caught up with David MacKenzie from Tourism Pemberton who says “really it’s our natural beauty that has been the selling feature, and that’s the main reason why people want to come here and have their wedding.”

The beauty of Pemberton has led to a steady and natural increase to the wedding market in Pemberton, which has allowed for major economic gains for the Village as well.

According to a study released by the Pemberton Chamber of Commerce, there were 80 destination weddings in Pemberton in 2014. Each wedding averaged 95 attendees, with 88% of all visitors hailing from outside of the Pemberton Valley. On average, each wedding resulted in about $100,000 dollars in economic activity! Multiple that by 80, and you have some major economic gains!

Mackenzie also mentioned that there are many different sectors benefiting economically from weddings in the area, including: food & beverage, accommodations, florists, photographers, etc. MacKenzie says “one of the benefits we have…is a lot of the wedding resources are originating right here (in Pemberton), and that money is being left right here and helping to keep Pemberton healthy”

Who can resist that backdrop? So, go ahead, join the ranks and get married Pemberton!
